Business In Balance
A Boutique Firm that Transcends Traditional HR.
Why Balance?
Balance in business often slips by unnoticed, yet its absence can severely hinder success. The truth is, when one aspect lacks, it ripples across others. Our mission is to bring equilibrium to businesses (and people), lifting performance and setting new standards!
What is Business in Balance all about?
Business in Balance was founded as a partnership by two long time friends, former colleagues, and HR executives, Karen Gifford and Felicia Zigman who saw a need for more hands-on and individualized HR solutions that don’t just fill a need, but leave an organization more balanced than when they got there.
Individually, we each run our own thriving HR consulting and coaching businesses. However, we’ve come to realize that by joining forces, we create a formidable partnership with skill sets that complement and balance each other perfectly. This synergy enables us to provide a comprehensive and distinctive alternative to traditional HR firms.
With a collective experience of over 50 years within dynamic and culturally diverse organizations, our primary objective is to elevate both personal experience and corporate performance. Our approach blends practicality, a strong business sense, the importance of well-being and happiness, and our extensive and varied experiences. This unique blend empowers us to design solutions that not only overcome challenges but also cultivate equilibrium and unlock untapped potential for our clients.

We’ve witnessed firsthand how some common HR practices can swiftly throw an organization and its culture off-balance. We are here to make sure that these don’t creep into your Organization!
- Policies devoid of logic
- A reactive culture
- Retaining underperformers
- Limited thinking; absence of strategic vision
- One-size-fits-all solutions
- Excessively complicated processes
- Rigid thinking and practices
- Training without purpose
- HR wielding power to impose limitations
- Sole focus on the company’s needs
- Sole focus on employees’ needs
- Hollow corporate jargon – obscure language
- Wellness and D&I initiatives as mere check-box tasks
- Values relegated to mere website words
- Recruiting talent devoid of passion
- PEOs that aren’t truly partners in outsourced HR
